Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Blackjack Mulligan, every month, right there at Augusta Expoland.

The glory days of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling from the ’70s and ’80s are long gone. Local promoter Brian Reger is looking to build new memories for today’s professional-wrestling fans.

“Augusta Expoland is so rich in history in the wrestling world. They ran monthly for two decades. I would really, really like to get that back up and running,” said Reger, who is gearing up for his second Expoland Wrestling Entertainment show on Saturday night, Dec. 12.

The main event features Ring of Honor stars Claudio Castagnoli and Rhett Titus in a tag-team match against EWE talents J-Sin and Lance Lude. The EWE opener, in October, drew 437 paid to Expo to see Chris Hero defeat former ECW star Sabu in a hardcore rules match on a card that also featured former WWE wrestler Eugene and Sonjay Dutt from TNA.

“The plan that we’re going to try to follow is we’re going to run shows that push the local talent and mix in every third or fourth show the bigger-name guys. I’m trying to keep it economical in this economy and keep the ticket prices lower, and trying to build a regular audience,” Reger said.

“Right now, it’s about getting a good local fan base built. If we can get a good fan base built, we can get rolling with regular shows,” Reger said.
