Mitt Romney has a commanding lead in the final polls in Illinois heading into Tuesday’s Republican presidential primary.

Public Policy Polling has Romney at 45 percent, Rick Santorum at 30 percent and Newt Gingrich a distant third at 12 percent. Looking inside the numbers, the strength for the former Massachusetts governor is among voters in suburban areas, where he is getting the support of 50 percent of expected GOP primary voters, and in urban areas, where he is pulling 46 percent support among primary voters.

Of note is that Romney has a slight lead over Santorum in rural parts of Illinois (38 percent-36 percent).
