Power of One: TEDx Charlottesville returns Nov. 11

the paramountTEDxCharlottesville and Starr Hill Presents, in partnership with CFA Institute and the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, will present the TEDx event “The Power of One” at the historic Paramount Theater in downtown Charlottesville on Friday, Nov. 11.

Following the success of sell-out events in the past three years, the all-volunteer committee is prepared to present another dynamic program designed to inspire the community to open up to the possibilities that “The Power of One” can make.

The focus this year is “The Power of One,” which will highlight the effect that one person, one idea, one decision, one election, one moment in time, and one shared idea can have to change the course of history or perhaps the direction of one person’s life. The very essence of the TEDx mission is to highlight the potential impact of a single idea from a single individual, and the “Power of One” theme at the 4th annual TEDxCharlottesville event will simultaneously capitalize on the serendipity of the event date itself (11-11).

“We are proud to partner with TEDxCharlottesville, and to give back to our local community by supporting the TEDx mission to foster learning, inspiration, and wonder,” said Kelli Palmer, Director of Organizational Environment, Social and Governance at CFA Institute. “This year’s theme resonates deeply with us. At CFA Institute, we know the Power of One: we equip our members with the credentialing, programs, conferences and publications they need to put our high ethical standards and analytical rigor into practice in their work with clients.”

CFA Institute is a not-for-profit, global association that sets standards for excellence among investment management professionals. Today, CFA Institute has 138,000 members in 151 countries and is based in Charlottesville, where it employs approximately 410 people.

“Our partnership with TEDxCharlottesville is one of the many ways that CFA Institute is committed to giving back to Charlottesville and the global community in our pursuit of serving the greater good,” said Palmer.
