potomac nationalsThe Potomac Nationals have announced the club’s 20th annual Hot Stove Banquet and Silent Sports Memorabilia Auction, the official offseason kickoff event for the 2015 season, will be held on Sunday, January 25th, 2015 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at the Hyatt Fairfax at Fair Lakes, and the special event is open to the general public.

The Potomac Nationals’ fan base, booster club members, sponsors, and members of the public will take in an evening of Nationals’ hot stove chat while enjoying great food and an extensive silent sports memorabilia auction to benefit S.P.A.R.K. (Supporting Partnerships and Resources for Kids), the Education Foundation for Prince William County Public Schools.

Past auctions have included items autographed by Washington Nationals stars, Bryce Harper, Jayson Werth, and Ryan Zimmerman. Items for the Nationals’ 2015 auction register were donated by teams from Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Football League (NFL), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Hockey League (NHL).

The P-Nats’ hot stove banquet will include an open cocktail hour from 5:30pm to 6:30pm during a silent sports memorabilia auction that will continue until 7:45pm. A plated dinner and the full program will run from 6:30pm to approximately 8:00pm.

The Nationals will recognize the 2014 Potomac Nationals Player of the Year while also distinguishing the Fan of the Year and Employee of the Year, in addition to Prince William County’s 2014 Softball and Baseball Players of the Year during the program.

The ballroom crowd will have the opportunity to hear from reigning 2014 Carolina League Manager of the Year, Tripp Keister, who guided the Potomac Nationals to their fifth Mills Cup Championship in franchise history this past season.

Keister became the 26th manager in the history of the Potomac Baseball franchise in ‘14 and will enter his fourth campaign inside the Washington Nationals Minor League system after spearheading the Gulf Coast League Nationals and Class-A Hagerstown Suns during the 2012 and 2013 seasons, respectively.

“I am really looking forward to the hot stove banquet in January. It’s a great opportunity to see familiar faces, meet new friends of the club, and catch up with our terrific front office staff and sponsors of the Potomac Nationals,” said Keister.

“The Pfitzner Stadium fans created a great atmosphere during our championship season. We felt like we were never out of a game, and it will be really fun to visit with our fan base. The projected 2015 Potomac Nationals team has the potential to be a very talented club and I can’t wait to get going.”

The Nationals skipper will address the crowd on hand for the hot stove banquet and silent auction for the second consecutive year. Keister is set to discuss the “State of the P-Nats” in the aftermath of a championship season in 2014, and preview what the P-Nats’ faithful should expect for the upcoming 2015 ledger as the Nationals prepare to win back-to-back Carolina League titles.

Additional special guests including Potomac Nationals players and members of the Washington Nationals Player Development staff are also scheduled to attend the banquet, and will be announced closer to the event.

“The P-Nats’ annual offseason banquet and silent auction is an awesome way to get our fans and sponsors excited for the 2015 season. This is a night filled with hot stove banter and the opportunity to bid on silent auction items for a great cause. I can’t wait to reflect on our Mills Cup Championship season and present what we have in store for 2015,” exclaimed Potomac Nationals Vice President and General Manager, Josh Olerud.
