Portions of Downtown Staunton streets closed Tuesday

Contributors

staunton virginiaThe City of Staunton will close portions of several downtown streets tomorrow, Dec. 11, to clear snow that is obstructing on-street parking and access to sidewalks.

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:

  • West Beverley Street, between Lewis and Market streets
  • Central Avenue, between Frederick and Johnson streets
  • New Street, between Johnson and Frederick streets

The exact time that work will begin is yet to be determined, but motorists in the downtown area can expect detours and minor delays while work is underway.

Parking on Beverley Street, Central Avenue and New Street will be unavailable during snow removal operations.

A Reminder for Residents and Business Owners

Please clear snow and ice from sidewalks in front of your residence or business. It’s the law. The owner or occupier of any property that borders a sidewalk must clear that sidewalk within six hours of when the ice or snow stops or ice ceases to form. If the precipitation falls, or the ice forms, at night, the owner or occupier of the property has until noon the following day to clear the walk.
