Poll: Ted Cruz has Republican presidential momentum
Following his announcement at Liberty University last month that he is formally entering the GOP presidential nomination race, Cruz, a Texas senator, saw his voter support increase to 16 percent in a Public Policy Polling poll released this week.
A month ago, Cruz had stood at 5 percent in a PPP poll.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush continue to lead the Republican field. Walker was at 20 percent in the PPP poll released this week, with Bush at 17 percent.
There’s a big gap to the next tier, with Ben Carson and Rand Paul at 10 percent, Marco Rubio and Mike Huckabee at 6 percent, Chris Christie at 4 percent, and Rick Perry at 3 percent.
