Poll: North Carolina voters back repeal of HB2
This according to a new poll from Public Policy Polling, which has 38 percent of Carolina voters backing the bill, whose fate will play a key role in the state’s November gubernatorial election.
Republican Gov. Pat McCrory has been outspoken in his support for HB2, and Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper, his opponent in the fall, has promised that he won’t defend the bill in court.
McCrory and Cooper are tied in the latest PPP poll of North Carolina voters, at 41 percent.
Both are under water with voters in terms of favorability – McCrory at 44 percent favorable and 49 percent unfavorable, and Cooper at 30 percent favorable and 33 percent unfavorable.
