Paramount Theater welcomes new members to board of directors

paramountThe Paramount Theater in Charlottesville announced new members elected to its board of directors.

“The Paramount Theater is truly fortunate to welcome these outstanding individuals to our board,” said Chris Eure, Executive Director of The Paramount Theater.  “We look forward to the opportunities their leadership will bring to The Paramount Theater.”

JERRY BIAS: Jerry Bias is the founder and CEO of Wisdom Oak Winery (formerly Sugarleaf Vineyards), a boutique winery in North Garden, Virginia. Bias personally planted the first 300 vines in 2002 and actively oversees the cultivation and quality controls of Wisdom Oak’s grape production.  He also manages the overall business with Wisdom Oak’s talented team.
Bias grew up in Baltimore where he developed a strong work ethic and abiding commitment to excellence.  He graduated from the McDonogh School and paid his own way through the University of Virginia, earning a degree in International Relations.  Bias achieved success as a trader on Wall Street as a partner at Cyrus Capital Partners where he created the premier trading desk in the boutique distressed investing hedge fund market.  Bias also served as a Board Member of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO) during a period when the University’s endowment more than doubled.

MELANIE BIAS: A Kentucky native, Melanie Bias began her career with GE Energy after graduating from Tufts University in 2001 with a degree in international relations and macro-economics. After completion of GE’s Financial Management Program, she accepted a position as operations manager for McMaster-Carr, a privately held industrial supply company. She would go on to serve as director of programs and operations for the Urban League of Southern Connecticut before moving to Charlottesville, Virginia where she co-owns and operates Wisdom Oak Winery with her husband, Jerry Bias.

PAM EDMONDS: Pam Edmonds has been active in numerous roles for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) since her daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2001 and has been on its International Board of Directors since 2012 as well as its Executive Committee.  Edmonds is currently a Trustee on the College Foundation Board at the University of Virginia and serves on Advisory Boards for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville and Kappa Alpha Theta at UVA.  She was previously on the Board of Light House Studio, chaired the St. Anne’s-Belfield School Centennial Campaign and was President of its Parents’ Association.  Edmonds is presently chairing events for Planned Parenthood, Camp Holiday Trails and Albemarle Garden Club.  She received a BA from the University of Virginia and an MMC from the University of Georgia.

JIM HADEN: Jim Haden is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Martha Jefferson Health Services and Hospital, a position he held since 1993. He served as a Board member of the Federal Reserve Bank 5th District from 1998 until 2003, and as a Board member of the Piedmont Virginia Community College Foundation from 1995 until 1997.  Haden received his B.A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1969, and his M.P.H. from the School of Public Health at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1971.

JANEMARIE KING: Janemarie King worked for Crocker National Bank and later was a principal in a commodities trading (coconut/copra) company based in London. She ran the company’s San Francisco Office.  King serves on the Board of Directors of the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation Board.

CHRISTOPHER NOLAND: L. Christopher Noland is a Principal and Client Strategist at Signature in Charlottesville, Virginia.   Noland entered the financial services industry in 1999. His previous experience includes practicing corporate law in the Virginia Beach office of Williams Mullen, and working in the Equity Capital Markets and Syndicate departments at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.  Noland received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Politics from Washington and Lee University, and his JD/MBA from the College of William and Mary. Noland received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Politics from Washington and Lee University, and his JD/MBA from the College of William and Mary.
