Virginia Tech has named its $100 million arts center building in tribute to artist and philanthropist Patricia Buckley Moss, whose recent donation in support of the center is one of the largest gifts the university ever has received.

The River City Radio Hour opened it seventh season in August. Now comes a new wrinkle in the popular Wayne Theatre Alliance program. Besides presenting its hour-long performances on the third Friday of the month, WTA will broadcast its monthly offering on Harrisonburg’s WSVA on the last Sunday of the month.

Actor Ryan Clemens, relative of Mark Twain (pen name of writer Samuel L. Clemens) brought his show Meet Mark Twain to WTA’s Gateway in March 2013 and wowed the audience.

WTA Presents features interviews with Helen White and Liz Barnes. Helen will be performing at the Gateway Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 14, with Wayne Henderson. Liz will be performing at the Gateway on Saturday, Sept. 7, with Barbara Martin.

On Thursday, September 5, WTA’s Gateway will open the fall season with an opportunity to warm-up for the 2013-14 talent contest. Lorie Strother, AKA The Dreaded Blues Lady, will be the host of the evening which begins at 7:00 pm.

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced today that nearly $1 million in matching grant funds will be awarded to 54 local tourism initiatives as part of Virginia Tourism Corporation’s Marketing Leverage Grant program.

The six finalists are set for the 2013 Gateway Talent of the Year Finale, Saturday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Gateway Theatre, 329 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Va.
