Returning for the third time, members of the Clann Mhor Organization of researchers who are studying the history of the Blue Ridge Railroad in Central Virginia will give an update on their archaeology work on the Crozet Tunnel and other building of the railroad.
As always Richard Adams has gathered an eclectic array of talent for his March Variety Show. Bluegrass and old-time music from Bourbon Barrel Congress, singer/songwriter Jake Sweet, actress/writer Rosemarie Harper with Lauren Ernst, and Collin Wheeler, the puppet man.
The ACME Swing Mfg. Co, an ecstatically fun band, will return to WTA’s Gateway with its unique version of hot swing on Saturday, Jan. 18. Noted for their “jazz music that you can dance to!”
The Earl Hamner Theatre will present a new version of its popular The Homecoming at WTA’s Gateway on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27 and 28. The new adaptation will premiere at WTA’s Gateway before moving on to Charlottesville’s First Night. Both performances are at 7:30 pm.
WTA’s Gateway mounts it first murder mystery dinner theatre on Nov. 22-23. Directed by Boomie Pedersen, artistic director of the Earl Hamner Jr. Theatre, Capricious Caper at the Club Ritz is an interactive theatre production. The audience is as much a participant as a viewer in the merriment and mayhem.
Barefoot Puppet returns to WTA’s Gateway with its newest production, Ooey Gooye Poetry. Sometimes characters end up in sticky situations… Heidi and Sam Rugg, of Barefoot Puppet Theatre, breathe new life into a host of characters unearthed from classical literature with just a dash of Victoriana.
Tom Principato is no stranger to Waynesboro, having headlined the Virginia Chili Blues ‘n Brews Festival. The blues legend returns to the River City on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Gateway Theatre.
Virginia Tech has named its $100 million arts center building in tribute to artist and philanthropist Patricia Buckley Moss, whose recent donation in support of the center is one of the largest gifts the university ever has received.
