Overnight lane closures on Interstate 81 in Shenandoah County

interstate 81Overnight single lane closures are scheduled to begin Monday, August 15, in several locations along Interstate 81 in Shenandoah County. These lane closures are for paving operations, guardrail installation and bridge inspections. All work is weather permitting.

On southbound I-81 from mile marker 298 to 292, milling and paving are scheduled for Monday through Friday nights from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. This work should be complete in mid-September.

On southbound I-81 from mile marker 287 to 283 and northbound I-81 from mile marker 292 to 296, guardrail replacement is scheduled for Monday through Friday nights from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Work at both of these locations should be complete in mid-September.

Bridge inspections are scheduled for August 15-17 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. as follows:

  • Monday, August 15, on northbound I-81 from mile marker 267 to 269.
  • Tuesday, August 16, on northbound and southbound I-81 from mile marker 267 to 270.
  • Wednesday, August 17, on southbound I-81 from mile marker 270 to 268.
