Or lykke or lagom, or something like that. Outblowing is a translation of the word ‘uitwaaien’ and embraced by the Americans. What is this about?

Getting your head cleared and feeling happy? There is only one way to do so: by ‘outblowing’. This Dutch word could be the new trend after we have had hygge, lykke or lagom from Scandinavia.

It is all about going outside and take a walk, a run or going on a bike. Of course in the windy climate of Holland. It is relaxing, stress disappears and you can handle daily life easily.

Healthier than alcohol

It also could help to prevent negative emotions even up to depression. You don’t need to take a bottle of wine from the wine cabinet (translated to Dutch:wijnklimaatkast inbouw) to get relaxed and to reduce stress and anxiety. This occupation is much healthier than alcohol.

Grab a daily moment of outblowing and practice it every day, so it becomes a part of your life. A couple of examples:

-every morning you start the day with a half-hour walk

-you run around in the park for twenty minutes each day

-you go to work with your backpack, on a bicycle

-you go to school with your schoolbag (translated to Dutch: schooltas), on a bicycle

Americans are surprised

For Dutch people, this sounds very normal. Americans are surprised and inspired by it. The same as they were inspired by the Dutch word ‘niksen’, just doing nothing for a couple of minutes. Staring out of the window, hanging on the couch. Be bored and silent. No action at all. The word has no translation, except something like doing nothing. But it does not cover the load completely.

It is about ‘soplar’ in Spain

In Swedish, it is called blåsa ut and in Spanish is looks like it is called ‘soplar’. So if you are in Coín Spain (translated to Dutch: Coin Spanje), you can call it like that. Germans call it ausblasen. But the dutch word and pronunciation are the original: uitwaaien. And it should be, because there is only one way to experience it. By doing so in the dutch climate: with a moderate or strong wind. Then you get the right feeling, free from stress.
