Orioles fall behind early, can’t climb out, drop decision to Miami, 5-2

lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesMartin Prado homered, Marcell Ozuna had three hits, and the Orioles just couldn’t get enough going on offense in a 5-2 loss to Miami Sunday afternoon.

Miguel Gonzalez (5-3) was roughed up for five runs on 10 hits in four-plus innings of work. The Bailtimore bullpen did a solid job keeping the Marlins offense in check thereafter – Chaz Roe and Brian Matusz allowed just one baserunner combined in the last four innings – but the 5-0 deficit they inherited was too much.

Tom Koehler (3-3) earned the win, giving up a run on three hits in six and a third innings, striking out three and walking four.

The loss drops the O’s to 19-22 on the season. Baltimore is three games behind first-place Tampa Bay in the American League East.
