WTA’s Gateway will host the fourth round of the Open Mic Talent Night Competition on Thursday, March 28 at 7 pm. The prize for the winner will be a $50 cash prize and a chance to participate in the final competition in June. Winner of the final round will receive a contract for a paid-performance at WTA’s Gateway or the Wayne Theatre and a professional produced video for posting on websites and Facebook.
Last month’s winner was Rachel Perkinson. She and her father will compete in the June final round.
Competition is open to a full range of performing arts: musical, comedy, poetry, magic, etc. “We have a wealth of musical talent in the area, but we are also blessed with performers who have skills in other genres. The Talent Night Competition is a place for them as well.” said Lorie.
The lineup will be determined by a drawing of names. Each act will have 10 minutes on the Gateway stage. The Open Mic Talent Night audience will select the winning performer or performing group by casting their ballot at the end of the performance. The Augusta Free Press will proved the $50 prize.
The Open Mic Talent Night prize is sponsored by the Augusta Free Press. “Each month’s turn out of talent is a demonstration of the creative riches of our area. The Free Press is excited by both the range and quality of those who have performed at the Talent Night. We invite everyone to come see and hear these artists.” said Chris Graham, publisher.
The Open Mic Talent Night is free although donations are gratefully accepted. The performance begins at 7 pm at WTA’s Gateway at 329 West Main in downtown Waynesboro.
