oduTrue freshman Drayton Arnold tossed a 94-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Harper and the Blue Team defense hung on for a 21-20 win over the White Team in the Old Dominion University football spring game Saturday afternoon in front of 4,500 in attendance.

With five minutes left in the game facing third and 11, Arnold threw a deep ball down the middle just over the out-stretched arms of the safety into the hands of Harper who out-ran everyone to the end zone for a 21-14 Blue Team lead.

After several stops by both defenses, the White Team got the ball back at the Blue Team 20 with 10 seconds left. Blake LaRussa fired a 16-yard pass to Melvin Vaughn to the four and fired a four-yard touchdown pass to Vaughn with no time left on the clock. LaRussa’s two-point conversion pass fell incomplete under a heavy rush.

The Blue Team got the scoring started with a five-yard touchdown run from Ray Lawry to cap a 10 play, 55-yard scoring drive highlighted by a 23-yard pass from Shuler Bentley to Travis Fulgham.

The White Team tied the score with a 24-yard touchdown run from Jeremy Cox to cap a six played, 40-yard drive and make the score 7-7.

On his first pass attempt of the game Arnold hit Jonathan Duhart for a 40-yard touchdown pass to put Blue Team back on top 14-7 but Kesean Strong added a 15-yard run to tie the score at 14.
