A native of Ahoskie, N.C., Vaughan returned two punts for 70-yards in ODU’s 17-3 win over Eastern Michigan, including a 46-yard return that put ODU on top 17-3.  Earlier in the game, he returned a punt 51-yards for a touchdown, but it was called back for a penalty.

Vaughan became the first Monarch in school history to return two punts for touchdowns and is just nine receptions from passing Nick Mayers as the school’s all-time leader.

The Monarchs open Conference USA play on Saturday by traveling to Rice for the first C-USA game in school history on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Simon had a career-high 11 tackles and half a tackle for loss in ODU’s first home FBS game and win. The three points allowed was a record low while the defense gave up 215 yards, the fourth fewest in school history.

For the season, Simon is tied for the team-lead with 24 tackles, second on the squad with three tackles for loss and one sack.
