ralph northamState Sen. Ralph Northam’s lieutenant-governor campaign is highlighting his support for mass transit and his commitment to improving Virginia’s transportation network. This year, Northam voted for the bipartisan transportation package, which invests in intercity passenger rail and supports the Rail to Dulles Silver Line Project. Northam understands the need to upgrade the Commonwealth’s transportation system and will make transportation a top priority as Lieutenant Governor.

“Ralph Northam understands that mass transit is the key to unlocking gridlock in Northern Virginia. In the state Senate he has stood with Northern Virginia on key transportation votes, as Lt. Governor he will ensure that transportation is a priority in the General Assembly. Ralph supported the this year’s bipartisan transportation bill that will fund the Rail to Dulles project, a critical investment for our region,” said State Sen. Janet Howell (D-Reston).

“As a member of the Senate, Ralph Northam, has shown that he recognizes the transportation needs of Northern Virginia. I know that he will work with us as Lieutenant. Governor to meet those needs, including mass transit,” said State Del. Ken Plum (D-Reston).

“When it comes to the transportation needs of Northern Virginia, Sen. Northam gets it. In the state Senate he supported bipartisan transportation legislation that will give Northern Virginia the flexibility it needs to address congestion on our roadways and focus on local priorities. I look forward to working with him as our next Lt. Governor on expanding mass transit options here in Northern Virginia. We need allies in Richmond like Ralph Northam that understand the link between an efficient transportation system and a strong business climate,” said Fairfax County Board Chairman Sharon Bulova.

“Mass transit projects like the Silver Line are all-around winners for Virginians. They attract new businesses, create good jobs, and reduce traffic congestion and pollution by taking cars off the road. Making projects like this a reality is exactly why I supported the bipartisan transportation bill that will make real improvements to rail and roads across the Commonwealth,” said Northam
