Northam raises $224K for LG bid

ralph northamState Sen. Ralph Northam’s campaign for lieutenant governor announced on Wednesday that it raised $224,687 in its first month of operations.

Northam, a Virginia Military Institute graduate, launched his campaign for the Democratic nomination to run for lieutenant governor on Dec. 6. Since announcinig his candidacy, Northam, a physician and Army veteran, has received 442 total contributions in the fourth quarter, with an average amount of $508. Over 98% of Dr. Northam’s donors are from Virginia.

Matt Larson, Dr. Northam’s campaign manager, said, “This report shows that less than one month into the campaign, Dr. Northam’s campaign is backed by a groundswell of grassroots support.  He leads in the number of donors, and what’s more, almost all his donations come from Virginia. These donors are Virginia primary election voters who are energized by Ralph’s leadership on the fight to repeal the mandatory ultrasound requirement, and his strong record of protecting the environment.”
