Norman carries Fishburne past Hargrave Military Academy, 9-4

FMS newTreavor Norman proved to be a dual threat on Tuesday from both the mound and the plate, as Fishburne downed Hargrave 9-4.

Norman recorded 14 strikeouts and went 4-4 at the plate, including a triple in the fourth inning. He allowed four earned runs, four hits and 10 walks over seven innings.

Fishburne took an early 1-0 lead at the top of the first but was matched by Hargrave in the bottom of the inning. The game was never in doubt after the second inning, as Fishburne scored one run on a single by Thomas Fosdick, which brought home Timothy Arndt. Two runs in the bottom of the fourth helped Hargrave close the gap to 6-3, but Fishburne answered with another three runs in the fifth. A single by Fosdick ignited the offense, plating Solomon Adams and Arndt. Norman followed with a single, scoring Fosdick.

Hargarve scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth, but it was not enough.

Nick Paul took the loss for Hargrave, allowing eight runs in four innings, walking four and striking out four.

The win boosts Fishburne’s record to 8-2. They play a make-up game against Roanoke Catholic at home on Wednesday.
