Augusta Free Press president Chris Graham is teaming up with a veteran wrestling booker to form a new company that will promote pro-wrestling shows in Virginia.

Top Rope Promotions announced this week that it will stage its first wrestling extravaganza on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at the Anderson Coliseum at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Va.

The main event features former WWE superstars fka Goldust and fka “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters. The tag-team main event pits “The American Patriots,” “Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Michael Hayes, against “The Brotherhood,” Daivari and Mohammad Akbar. TNA Knockouts champion Tara will defend her title against former WWE Diva fka Katie Lea Burchill. Micro Championship Wrestling champion Meatball will defend his title against former MCW champ Short Sleeve Sampson.

“Live pro wrestling continues to draw fans of all ages to arenas, coliseums, county fairs and local high-school gyms across the country. Top Rope Pro Wrestling will bring top-of-the-line wrestling entertainment to our fans,” said Graham, the president and CEO of the Waynesboro, Va.,-based Top Rope Promotions.

Graham has experience in the pro-wrestling industry, most recently with Awesome Wrestling Entertainment, for which Augusta Free Press LLC, served as web, social-media and marketing consultants.

Graham also was a member of the creative team at AWE and was a broadcaster on the company’s 2011 “Night of Legends” live pay-per-view TV event.

Graham will reunite with former AWE booker and “Night of Legends” executive producer Marvin Ward in Top Rope Pro Wrestling. Ward, a 20-year veteran of the pro-wrestling industry, is a booking and creative consultant with Top Rope.

Ward is excited about the opportunity to get back into wrestling – and about the card that the company has put together for its debut show.

“I’ve wanted to have Goldust headline a show since I got my start in promoting. The timing never worked out before, but we finally were able to get things together for this show, and I couldn’t be happier,” Ward said.

A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program, which provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.

Tickets for the event are …

  • $30: Golden Circle Ringside (rows one and two)
  • $25: Additional Ringside
  • $20: Box Seats
  • $15: General Admission

Tickets will go on sale Nov. 1.
