Housekeeping, by regional artists Dymph De Wild, Corinne Diop, and Rebecca Silberman, will open Saturday, February 26, in the Beverley Street Studio School Gallery at 22 West Beverley Street.
The opening is from 5:30 – 7:30pm with an artist’s talk at 6:00pm. The event is free and open to the public.
The exhibit runs through Sunday, April 17th 2016. These three artists founded The “Metal Shed CoLab” located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The “CoLab” as they refer to themselves, is a place where artists and students exchange knowledge, skills, experience, ideas, and stories.
The “CoLab” is a synergistic and on-going conversation between artists; creating a unique idea center.
Housekeeping represents each artist’s individual work and supports their belief in partnership. Dymph De Wild, a long term BSSS volunteer uses abandoned items in her multifaceted work to explore their ordinary functionality stimulating and liberating our associations, perceptions and curiosity in our universe.
Corinne Diop’s digital montages combine “scanner as camera” images with digital photographs in an exploration of materiality and re-presentation. Rebecca Silberman’s work uses optics and miniatures to depict familiar and yet dream-like circumstances.
About the Beverley Street Studio School
Located in the historic district of downtown Staunton, Virginia, Beverley Street Studio School (BSSS) has adopted as its mission “providing the community and region with a variety of opportunities to explore the world of the visual arts through practice, professional instruction, and contact with practicing artists.” It is unique in that it is the only studio school located outside a major metropolitan area.
