Nelson woman killed in three-vehicle crash in Lovingston

A Nelson County woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon (May 4, 2012) in Lovingston. At 1:18 p.m., Virginia State Police Senior Trooper J.D. Allen was called to the scene on Route 29 at the intersection of Business 29.

A 2003 Toyota Avalon was northbound on Route 29 and was making a left turn into a supermarket parking lot. The Avalon turned across the southbound lanes and was struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer had swerved to avoid the Toyota, but was unable to avoid striking it. The tractor-trailer then struck a 2003 Honda that was in the supermarket parking lot waiting to pull out.

The driver of the Toyota, Constance Bradshaw, 69, of Faber, Va., died en-route to the hospital.

he driver of the tractor-trailer, Yosef Malik, 53, of Florida, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Honda, Philip Theisen, 60, of Forest, Va., was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Theisen was wearing a seat belt.

The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and Motor Carrier Safety Team both responded to the scene to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing at this time.
