LeVon Washington cranked out four RBIs on a three-hit night to lift the Lynchburg Hillcats over the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Monday night at Calvin Falwell Field at City Stadium. Lynchburg claimed the four-game series against the first-half champions to improve to 9-8 in the second half.
THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY
Wilmington jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Jack Lopez homered over the left field wall for his fifth long ball of the season. Lynchburg responded in the bottom of the second inning as Mike Papi doubled to lead off the inning and was driven home by LeVon Washington to tie the game at one.

The double by Papi extended his hit streak to a Carolina League-leading 15 consecutive games, breaking the previous high of 14 set by Jake Peter of Winston-Salem. Papi is hitting 21-for-54 (.389) during the streak with two home runs, nine doubles, 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
Lynchburg kept the runs coming in the bottom of the third with RBIs by Yhoxian Medina and Ivan Castillo to score Eric Haaseand Washington to complete the three-run inning and give the Hillcats a 3-1 lead.
RUNS FOR DAYS
Lynchburg totaled three multi-run innings in Monday’s contest. In the bottom of the third, Haase doubled to drive in Papi to give Lynchburg a 4-2 lead. Washington recorded his second RBI of the game with a single to bring in Haase and put the ‘Cats up three. Washington finished the night with season highs in hits with three and RBIs with four.

MAKING THINGS INTERESTING
In the top of the fifth, Santiago Nessy homered to lead off the inning to bring the Blue Rocks within two, 5-3. Dominique Taylordoubled two batters later and scored on a RBI single by Lopez to make it a one-run game. However, Lynchburg got the two runs back in the home half of the inning. Washington doubled with two outs to bring home Clint Frazier, who led off the inning with a single, and Eric Haase to put the Hillcats up 7-4.

ONE FOR GOOD MEASURE
With a 7-4 lead already in hand, the Hillcats plated another run to seal the win in the bottom of the seventh. Medina singled to right to bring home Nellie Rodriguez to extend the lead to 8-4 where it would remain for the night.
ANOTHER SOLID START
Mitch Brown turned in another solid outing on the mound for the Hillcats Monday. He pitched six innings and allowed four runs on five hits while walking and striking out three to earn his second win against the Blue Rocks this season. Brown is now 2-0 in four career starts against Wilmington. With the win, Brown has won three straight for the first time this season and fourth time in his career.
KEEPING UP WITH THE ‘CATS
Lynchburg saw six of its 12 hits go for doubles, including the 18th of the season by Luigi Rodriguez and the 26th of the year byNellie Rodriguez…The Hillcats lead the Carolina League with 182 doubles, paced by Nellie’s 26 and Papi’s 24…LeVon Washington recorded a season-high four RBIs…He now has recorded 13 RBIs in his first 12 games as a Hillcat.
