Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) cosponsored Congressman Don Beyer’s Federal Employee Retroactive Pay Fairness Act to ensure that federal workers receive back pay at the conclusion of the shutdown.
“I eagerly signed onto Congressman Beyer’s legislation to ensure federal workers get the back pay they deserve and need. We have federal employees going to work every day without a paycheck and workers forced to be sitting at home eager to be on the job and serving Americans. As these workers struggle to make ends meet, as their bank accounts are drained and more bills coming due, we need to at least ensure they will receive back pay when this unacceptable situation finally ends.
“As I have said repeatedly, we can have policy differences and resolve them but should not be holding American workers and the American people hostage. We need to end this shutdown now, put dedicated employees back to work and return services to the American people.
“This bill is a small step to remedy a very egregious circumstance.”
