Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe’s campaign released a new television ad on Tuesday, “Schools,” highlighting Ken Cuccinelli’s plan to divert funds away from public schools to private schools, and his tax plan, which could force localities to make tough choices to cover the resulting holes in funding for public education.

“Virginia’s public schools and students could suffer under Ken Cuccinelli’s extreme education plan and his irresponsible tax gimmick,” said McAuliffe spokesperson Josh Schwerin. “Not only does he want to divert funds from public schools to private schools, Ken Cuccinelli has proposed a massive tax break for the wealthiest Virginians and corporations with no specifics on how he will pay for it. Virginians want commonsense solutions and investments in our children’s future, not a governor who will put his own extreme ideology first.”
