MAYER, KIRBY, MAYER Acoustic Group performing at The Paramount Theater

paramountThe Paramount Theater welcomes the MAYER, KIRBY, MAYER Acoustic Group with guest Gary Green on Wednesday, September 16 at 7:30 pm.  All proceeds from the show will benefit The Robin and Mani Legacy Projects.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased online or through The Paramount Theater’s Box Office.  Tickets may be purchased in advanced for $19.50 or the day of show for $22.00.

Peter Mayer melds influences from jazz, rock and pop in his stunning guitar playing and songwriting and also serves as Jimmy Buffett’s lead guitarist and co-writer.  He’ll be joined by his son Brendan Mayer who recently released his first CD titled “Getaway Car” and spent much of 2014 touring with Jimmy Buffett as the featured guest artist each night.  Scott Kirby, a self-taught fingerstyle acoustic guitarist and songwriter readily admits most of his influences come from the class of singer/songwriters and folk-rock artists of the 1970s.  The Mayer, Kirby, Mayer Acoustic Group will be joined by guest Gary Green on harmonica.

Benefit Details: Robin worked in the Albemarle County school system for 30 years, specializing in early childhood intervention and education.  She was especially passionate about unraveling the unique challenge of each child with autism and providing support for their families.  She was a lively and vibrant woman who never faced down a challenge.  Robin touched the lives of many people, and drastically changed the life of one special young child, Mani, who became her beloved daughter.  Robin and Mani become a family in Kiev, Ukraine on a beautiful summer day in 2000.  Mani loved music, dance, Triple C Camp, and hoped to become a camp counselor some day.  Mani was an extremely sweet, trusting, fun, and kind young woman who was full of promise and possibilities.
Robin, 58, and Mani, 17, died on Friday, December 5, 2014 at their home in Charlottesville.  All proceeds from this concert will go to benefit Robin and Mani’s All Buddy Camp, a week-long summer camp sponsored by Charlottesville and Albemarle Parks and Recreation, designed to help participants build self-esteem, develop better social skills and self-expression, make and maintain friendships, and improve fine and gross motor skills by partnering preschool students with disabilities with local high school students as “buddies” in a holistic program centered on the creative arts, fun, and field trips.
