Maury River Senior Center to Begin Western Party Dance Series

vpasheader0311The first evening activity designed for those 60 and older will begin at Maury River Senior Center this month. The Western Dance Party Series is a beginning class in Country and Western couples dancing. Absolutely no experience is necessary.

The class will cover favorite dances such as the Texas Two Step, Country Waltz and Country Polka. The emphasis will be on the basic steps and, especially, having a good time.

The parties will take place at Maury River Senior Center on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00pm, beginning May 15. Volunteer instructors will be Karen and Tom Whaley, who have enjoyed Western couples dancing for years. The Whaleys emphasize that singles as well as couples are welcome to join the class.

The Western Dance Party Series is open to all area residents 60 and older, and is offered free of charge; freewill donations to support MRSC programs will be appreciated. Participants will be asked to complete a very short information form to qualify the activity under federal funding standards.

Maury River Senior Center is located at 2137 Magnolia Avenue, Buena Vista. Questions about the Western Dance Party Series or any other Senior Center program or service should be directed to center director Jeri Schaff at 261-7474 or [email protected].
