Mathers aims to make a difference in the community with your help

Mathers Construction Team is doing its part to give back to the community this holiday season, and they would like you to join them in their effort.

Mathers Construction Team has joined the Valley Businesses Give Back effort to make a difference in the community by collecting items for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Nov. 26 through Dec. 19.

For the second year in a row, Hershey in Stuarts Draft has organized the effort and invited other businesses to partner with them in the winter food drive.

“It’s really hard to hear of families choosing between food for their children and paying utilities or rent,” said Teresa Gauldin, President and CEO of Mathers. “This is one way our company can contribute and know that we are making a difference in a big way.”

Items in high demand include cereal, peanut butter, canned meats, canned soups and stews, canned fruits and vegetables, juice, boxed macaroni and cheese, canned spaghetti sauce, pasta and rice, paper products and personal care items. Cash donations are also accepted.

Donations of cash or food for the winter food drive may be dropped off at Mathers Construction, 435 Essex Avenue, Waynesboro.

“We set a goal at Mathers for 500 pounds of food,” said Gauldin. “My hope is that we far surpass that goal.”
