Major League Soccer players more valuable than ever before

Atlanta United did remarkably well to win the 2018 Major League Soccer trophy, with Josef Martinez scoring no less than 35 goals in the process. However, he is not the most valuable player in the MLS at the moment. FootballPredictions.com, leading website in football tips match previews and odds comparisons, analyzed the current player roster of the biggest American football league and came up with some interesting results.

Atlanta new signing Gonzalo Martinez, who played for River Plate and Huracan in Argentina, is expected to shine in the 2019 MLS season. The Argentina midfielder, who was born in June, 1993, is currently the most valuable MLS player on the market, with the value of €150 million. Gonzalo Martinez has won two Copa Libertadores, Copa Argentina and Supercopa Argentina and, no doubt, he will play an important role in Frank de Boer’s team in days to come.

Everybody knows Carlos Vela. The Mexico international used to play for the likes of Real Sociedad and Arsenal in the past and he has been scoring goals for fun in the MLS ever since he joined Los Angeles FC 2018. The left-footed attacker is worth €10 million and seeing that he turned 30 on March 1, he is unlikely to increase his value in upcoming years. Anyhow, Carlos Vela, who scored 14 goals last term, is still considered one of the best players in the Major League Soccer.

Aforementioned attacker Josef Martinez is leveled on price with Carlos Vela (€10 million). The last season’s MLS MVP aims to enjoy yet another successful season and Atlanta United fans expect him to lead the Five Stripes to title defence. The 25-year-old striker just can’s stop scoring and, no doubt, he could soon become the most valuable player in the Major League Soccer. It has to be noted that the Venezuela international has netted 54 goals in total in the MLS ever since he signed for Atlanta in 2017.

Wayne Rooney is on the twilight of his career, but he still listed among the MLS most valuable players. Despite being 33 years old, the DC United striker is worth €8 million on the market and he is still capable of producing thrilling displays at this level. Rooney is eager to lead the capital club to a place in the play-offs and the fact that Ben Olsen’s team outplayed title holders Atlanta United in their opener surely gives DC United fans a reason for optimism ahead of upcoming challenges. The premier league predictions team of FootballPredictions.com expected Wayne Rooney to be one of the most important games of the MLS nowadays.

Yet another Atlanta United footballer is in top 5 most valuable players in the MLS. Ezequiel Barco, the Argentine rising star, is worth €8 million, but considering that he is still a teenager, a bright future is ahead of him. The 19-year-old footballer plays one of key roles in Frank de Boer’s team and he is expected to be an adequate substitute for former Atlanta midfielder Almiron.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is no longer considered one of the most valuable players in the MLS, but he still poses a big threat for the opposition defenders. Despite the fact that his market value is no more than €3.5 million, the former Man Utd, Barcelona, PSG, Juventus, Milan and Inter ace should not be underestimated as he has never lost his goal-scoring touch.
