Based on her performance and reputation among physicians and executives at Augusta Health, Director of Physician Recruitment Arlene Macellaro has been named the national Staff Physician Recruiter of the Year by Jackson & Coker.

The award was created and is sponsored by Jackson & Coker to draw attention to the critical and often unsung role physician recruiting professionals play in hospitals across the United States.

“Arlene Macellaro performs a vital function for Augusta Health,” says L. Courtenay Beebe, MD, executive director of Augusta Medical Group.  “The high quality of care delivered here is a direct result of Arlene’s tireless efforts to bring the highest quality physicians to our area.  Although most people in our community do not know Arlene, her work has touched many of their lives because of a physician she brought to the Shenandoah Valley.”

Nominations for the award were made by hospital administrators and physicians throughout the United States.  Macellaro was selected by an independent panel of healthcare executives based on the quality content of her nominations.

“Through the work Arlene and her peers are doing across the United States, thousands of patients have access to quality medical care,” said Sandy Garrett, president of Jackson & Coker.  “We applaud them.”

Headquartered in metro Atlanta, Jackson & Coker is a physician recruitment firms that has earned a reputation for placing exceptionally qualified candidates in commercial and government practice opportunities.

Augusta Health is an independent, nonprofit community hospital whose mission is to promote the health and well-being of our community through access to excellent care.  Named one of the 100 Top Hospitals in America by Thomson Reuters in both 2011 and 2012, Augusta Health has also been nationally recognized by HealthGrades for clinical excellence and patient safety.
