Lynchburg District Traffic Alert: March 28-April 1

Amherst County:  

Route 60 Line eradication will take place sin advance of surface work.

Route 501/130 (Snowden) – Traffic control/flaggers in use. Expect delays. End: 4/21/17.   

Various – Be alert to surface treatment operations at various locations.

 

Appomattox County:  

Route 24 Line eradication will take place in advance of surface work.

Various – Be alert to surface treatment operations at various locations.

 

Buckingham County:    

Route 20 over Slate River – Speed reduced during bridge replacement. Est.  comp. – 12/2017.

Andersonville AHQ – Crews will make shoulder repairs..

Various –Crews will boom axe, make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Campbell County:  

Route 643 over Falling River – Traffic control in use. Expect delays. Est. comp. 6/10/16.

Route 651 over Bear Creek (Rt. 604-615) – Road closed 3/21 – 6/10/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 606, 615 and back to 651.

Route 701 over Hills Creek (696-699)  – Road closed thru 4/29/16.  Detour via Rte. 696 and 699.

 

Charlotte County:   

Route 40 westbound, Phenix area – Repair slope.

Route 638 over Little Cub Creek – Closed until 5/6 for structure replacement. Detour in place

Route 663, Phenix area – Replace main line pipe. Delays likely.

Route 746, Phenix area – Repair pipe.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, work shoulders, brush cut/boom axe and respond to customer requests.

 

Cumberland County:  

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, cut brush and respond to customer requests.

 

Halifax County:  

Route 58, Cluster Springs and various Bethel AHQ locations – Crews will boom axe.

Route 691 over Tobey Creek(Rt 659/658 intersection) – Closed thru April 1 for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 659, 662 and 659.

Bethel AHQ – Crews will work shoulders.

Cluster Springs AHQ – Crews will clean up trees and trash.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Lynchburg:

Route 29/460 (501-29)– Be alert to construction traffic entering/exiting roadway. Use caution. Est. comp. 11/16/17

Route 29/460 (Odd Fellows Rd Int. and Odd Fellows Rd.)– Be alert to construction traffic entering/exiting roadway. Use caution. Est. comp. 8/3/18

 

Nelson County:  

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Pittsylvania County:  

Route 628 over Straightstone Creek (Rt. 900-937) –Closed 2/29 – 6/3/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 640, 900 and back to 628.

Route 726 – Construction underway. Signs/traffic control devices in place. Est.comp-4/29/16. 

Brosville AHQ – Crews will ditch. 

Gretna, Kentuck and Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will boom axe.

Gretna and Rondo AHQ – Crews will clean debris. 

Kentuck and  Mt. Airy AHQ  – Crews will work shoulders.

Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will clean drop inlets.

Various – Be alert to surface treatment operations at various locations.

Various –Crews will work surfaces and respond to customers.

 

Prince Edward County:  

Route 602 over Little Saylers Creek – Road closed 4/11-4/29/16 from 460 to 617 for timber deck replacement. Detour via 617 to 602.

Route 632 over Bush River – Road closed for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 633, 15, 647and 630. Route 632 will be closed between the intersection of Route 633 and Route 630. Est. comp. 5/20.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, cut brush, work pipe and drainage structures, and respond to customer requests.

 

District-wide activities: 

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance. 

Pavement markings – Contractors will begin eradication of pavement markings in coming weeks in anticipation of latex schedule on primary routes. Caution is urged.
