Amherst County:
Route 130 over Pedlar River– Bridge work; signs and other traffic control devices in use. Estimated completion November 27, 2017.
Route 501/130 (Snowden) – Route 501 from Hunting Club Road and existing James River Bridge, traffic restricted to one lane using appropriate signs, signals, etc. Expect delays. Project completion 4/21/17.
Route 610 over Muddy Branch (645-738) – Road closed 5/9-5/27 for pipe replacement. Detour will use Rt. 151, 665, and 778.
Various routes in Madison Heights – Surface treatment will take place. Traffic control devices, pilot vehicles and flaggers will assist traffic. Expect delays.
Appomattox County:
Routes 24, 1125 and 1127 – Surface work will take place.
Route 460 (west of town to 646) – Plant mix work will take place. Traffic control devices, pilot vehicles and flaggers will assist traffic. Expect delays.
Route 627over Suanee Creek (633-601) – Road closed 5/23 – 6/10 for deck replacement. A detour will be in place using Rt. 601, 620,619 and 633.

Buckingham County:
Route 20 over Slate River – Speed reduced during bridge replacement. Est. comp. – 12/2017.
Routes 15 and 24 – Surface work will take place.
Dillwyn AHQ – Crews will boom axe.
Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.
Campbell County:
Route 501 @ Route 643 and 606 – Surface work. Expect delays.
Route 651 over Bear Creek (Rt. 604-615) – Road closed 3/21 – 6/10/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 606, 615 and back to 651.
Route 701 over Hills Creek (696-699) – Road closed thru 4/29/16. Detour via Rte. 696 and 699.
Various routes– Surface treatment will take place. Traffic control devices, pilot vehicles and flaggers will assist traffic. Expect delays.
Charlotte County:
Route 15 @ Route 360, south of Mecklenburg Co. line – Paving begins. Use caution.
Route 40 westbound, Phenix area – Repair slope.
Route 40 over Louse Creek – Be alert to equipment entering/exiting roadway.
Route 638 over Little Cub Creek – Closed until 5/6 for structure replacement. Detour in place.
Route 663, Phenix area – Replace main line pipe. Delays likely.
Route 746, Phenix area – Repair pipe.
Craftons Gate AHQ – Crews will boom axe on primary and secondary routes.
Various –Crews will make surface repairs, work shoulders and respond to customer requests.
Cumberland County:
Routes 13 and 45 – Surface work will take place.
Various –Crews will make surface repairs, cut brush and respond to customer requests.
Halifax County:
Route 58 East – Paving will begin at the Pittsylvania Co. line on April 25.
Route 501 @ Rt. 40 and 632 – Construction of right turn lanes to take place.
Route 613 over Branch of Banister River (360-360)– Road will be closed 6/13 – 9/23 for structure replacement. Detour will use Route 360.
Route 716 over Banister River – Crews will construct bridge and approaches.
Bethel AHQ – Crews will work shoulders, and clean pipe.
Cluster Springs AHQ – Crews will clean primary roadsides.
Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.
Lynchburg:
Route 29/460 Corridor eastbound and westbound from Concord Turnpike to Candlers Mtn Rd: The speed will be reduced to 45 mph for construction throughout the corridor starting April 26.
Route 29/460 (501-29)– Be alert to construction traffic entering/exiting roadway. Weather permitting, lane closures will be in place on Saturdays until further notice. Use caution. Est. comp. 11/16/17.
Route 29/460, alternating eastbound and westbound between Campbell Ave., 501 intersection and Concord Turnpike – Drilling operations will take place Sunday, April 17 – Thursday, April 21 and, again, April 24 – April 28 from 7 pm – 6 am. Police will control traffic.
Route 29/460 (Odd Fellows Rd Int. and Odd Fellows Rd.)– Be alert to construction traffic entering/exiting roadway. Use caution. Est. comp. 8/3/18.
Nelson County:
Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.
Pittsylvania County:
Route 29 southbound bridge over Norfolk-Southern Railroad –Demolition and replacement of bridge. The Rt. 29/803 connection will be temporarily relocated. Southbound traffic will be detoured to a northbound lane later this summer. Estimated completionJune 20, 2017.
Route 29 and other locations – Surface work will take place.
Route 628 over Straightstone Creek (Rt. 900-937) –Closed 2/29 – 6/3/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 640, 900 and back to 628.
Route 638 over Branch of Beechtree Creek – Road closed approximately 4 weeks beginning 5/16/16 for pipe replacement. Detour via Route68 to 640.
Route 685 over Stinking Creek (40-670) – Road closed for approximately 14 weeks beginning 5/9/16 for bridge replacement. Detour will use Rt. 670, 630 and 40.
Route 783 over Crooked Run Creek – Road closed for bridge deck replacement from 4/11-4/22. Detour in place via 644, 750 and 694.
Route 968 over Sandy Creek (726-970) – Road closed 5/23 – 8/12 for structure replacement. A detour will be in place using Rt. 726, 58, and 970 back to 968.
Brosville and Rondo AHQ – Crews will ditch.
Gretna, Kentuck, Mt. Airy and Rondo AHQ – Crews will boom axe.
Gretna and Rondo AHQ – Crews will clean debris.
Kentuck AHQ – Crews will work shoulders and ditches.
Mt. Airy, Renan and Straightsone areas – Be alert to surface treatment operations at various locations. Motorists should be alert for flaggers and lane closures.
Various –Crews will work surfaces and respond to customers.
Prince Edward County:
Route 602 over Little Saylers Creek – Road closed beginning 6/6/16 from 460 to 617 for timber deck replacement. Detour via 617 to 602.
Route 619 over Saylers Creek – Crews will construct bridge and approaches. Comp. 11/2016.
Route 632 over Bush River – Road closed for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 633, 15, 647and 630. Route 632 will be closed between the intersection of Route 633 and Route 630. Est. comp. 5/20.
Route 633 over Norfolk-Southern Railroad-Bridge repairs; lane width 13’ with 1-way traffic using a temporary signal. Work will take approximately 3 months to complete.
Various –Crews will make surface repairs, cut brush, work pipe and drainage structures, and respond to customer requests.
District-wide activities:
Bridge maintenance – Bridge washing operations will result in lane closures on various bridges.
Guardrail maintenance – Crews will do guardrail maintenance.
Pavement markings –Pavement markings will be eradicated in anticipation of latex schedule on primary routes. Caution is urged.
