valley comic conAugusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro Libraries are partnering to host the second annual Valley Comic Con June 25-27.  The free event will change location each day and will feature art and costume contests, authors, exhibits and food.

Valley Comic Con will open at the Staunton Public Library on Thursday, June 25 from 4 to 8 p.m.; move to the Waynesboro Public Library Friday, June 26 from 4 to 8 p.m.; and conclude at the Fishersville Library Saturday, June 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event is modeled after the conventions that are popular in the comic and sci fi world.  Activities will vary by location, but will include special guests such as T. Glenn Bane, , author and creator of Bare Bones Multiverse, The Dark Fantasy of Sundrah and Little Bucks Fantastic Visions. Other guests include Redbeard the Pink and vampirologist Theresa Bane.

ACL librarian Elzena Anderson says, “The library is creating a welcoming venue to celebrate and share interest in graphic novels, comic books, science fiction, anime and manga.”

The event will also encourage participants to create and display artwork inspired by the characters and stories they enjoy.  In addition, attendees can wear costumes, providing opportunities for photographs with friends and favorite characters.

Valley Comic Con is free, but registration is suggested. For additional information, go to www.augustacountylibrary.org/events/valley-comic-con/ or contact the library at 540-885-3961 or 540-949-6354.
