Local favorites return for May River City Radio Hour
The Friday, May 16th River City Radio Hour will host local favorites, Chrystal McKee and Dustin Roadcap, at the performance and another chapter of Basic City Boys by Richard Adams. Completing the monthly performance will be the Boogie Kings and Waynesboro’s First Lady of Laughter, marsha howard. The performance will start at 7:30pm at WTA’s Gateway, 329 West Main Street, downtown Waynesboro.
Chrystal McKee is a native of North Carolina and has performed in theater since the age of seven. After moving to the Valley, she joined many of the area’s theatre groups, playing Annelle in Steel Magnolias; Edith Bolling Galt Wilson in Woody; and Nellie Forbush in South Pacific.
Dustin Roadcap, actor and songwriter, is a veteran of the River City Players as well as theatre in the area. He performed at the Gateway several times in 2013: in October with the Waynesboro Players musical revue: Lights! Camera! Action!, at the November Radio Hour in Edgar Alan Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart, and at the December Radio Hour in The Gift of the Magpie and Basic City Boys. He was most recently featured in Waynesboro Players’ Wizard of Oz as the Scarecrow.
marsha howard is anything but a newcomer to the Radio Hour. She has been a regular on the show since its beginning. Her treasure trove of jokes has been mined for their humor and their suitability for the Radio Hour audiences. “Many people stop me and offer me a joke for the Radio Hour.” she says. “Sadly, many are not family-friendly, and since we want to appeal to all ages, I have to insure that my comedy is appropriate for children as well as adults.”
The River City Radio Hour “Merchant of the Month” is Main Street Salon at 414 W Main St., downtown Waynesboro. The monthly performances are sponsored in part by Waynesboro Cultural Commission and Stone Soup Books and Café. The media sponsor is The News Virginian.
Advance tickets for the May 16th River City Radio Hour are $10 and are available online at www.wtagateway.com or by calling the box office (540-943-9999).
