arts councilThroughout July, “Strokes of Distinction,” a new art exhibition in Harrisonburg, will display works depicting the artists’ interpretations of conversations with stroke survivors and their care partners about what it means to live with stroke and to be a stroke survivor.

“Strokes of Distinction” opens Friday, July 1, 5–8 p.m. at the Smith House Galleries and will be on display through July 28. The gallery is located at 311 South Main Street in Harrisonburg, open to the public Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

The exhibit is a unique way of raising stroke awareness and providing public education about stroke. The show is a collaborative effort between the Arts Council of the Valley, Sentara RMH Medical Center, local artists, and stroke survivors and their care partners.
