Liberty ranked No. 18 heading into Georgia State matchup this weekend

liberty-flames21For the fourth week in a row, Liberty is nationally ranked as the Flames will enter their matchup against Georgia State No. 18 in both FCS national polls.

Following a 34-13 setback to Southern Illinois last Saturday, Liberty dropped to No. 18 in both the STATS FCS Top 25 poll and the FCS Coaches poll.

Liberty was ranked No. 10 in both national polls entering the road contest against the Salukis, the team’s highest ranking since 1990.

This week’s ranking marks the first time the Flames have been ranked inside the top 20 teams in the country for four consecutive weeks since the 2010 season.

Coastal Carolina, Liberty’s Big South rival, remained ranked as the No. 1 team in the country in the FCS Coaches poll. The Chanticleers have held down the top spot in the weekly coaches ranking for four weeks in a row.

Despite getting pushed by UT Martin in a 48-41 road victory, Jacksonville State remained the No. 1 team in the STATS FCS Top 25 poll for the third week in a row.

The Flames will continue their four-game road swing this Saturday when the face Georgia State. Kickoff for Liberty’s final non-conference game of the regular season is slated for 3:30 p.m. inside the Georgia Dome.
