Following the Flames’ victory over Georgia State on Saturday, Liberty has moved up to No. 15 both national FCS polls.
Liberty is ranked No. 15 in the FCS Coaches and STATS FCS Top 25 polls after Liberty’s 41-33 victory over the Panthers at the Georgia Dome. The win gave Liberty a victory over a FBS opponent for the second year in a row and the fourth time in program history.
The Flames moved up three spots in both polls from the previous week following the eight-point victory over the Panthers. Liberty has now been ranked inside the top 20 for five straight weeks for the first time since the 2010 season.
The top five spots in the FCS Coaches poll remained the same this week, which has Coastal Carolina ranked No. 1 in the country. The STATS FCS Top 25 poll has the same four teams atop their listing from last week, led by Jacksonville State.
The Flames will begin their quest to claim a fourth-straight Big South title on Saturday when Liberty travels to Boiling Springs, N.C., to face Gardner-Webb. Kickoff from Spangler Stadium is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on the American Sports Network (ASN).
