Following Liberty’s victory over No. 8/7 Montana on Saturday during Hall of Fame and Family Weekend, the Flames moved up to No. 10 in both national polls.
Liberty is ranked No. 10 in both the STATS FCS Top 25 poll and the FCS Coaches poll following its 31-21 win over the visiting Grizzlies.
The game marked the first time Williams Stadium had hosted a Top 15 ranked matchup. The win gave the Flames a victory in five of their last seven games against nationally ranked opponents.
The ranking is Liberty’s highest since the 1990 season. Following a 4-0 start to the season, Liberty was ranked No. 9 heading into its Week 5 matchup against Villanova.
Jacksonville State is ranked No. 1 in the STATS FCS Top 25 poll, while Coastal Carolina sits atop the FCS Coaches poll for the third week in a row.
The Flames begin a four-game road swing next Saturday when Liberty travels to Carbondale, Ill., to face Southern Illinois. Kickoff from Saluki Stadium is set for 7 p.m. (EST). The Liberty Flames Sports Network will provide television coverage for the road contest.
