Print Color Uniform with Hat- Donald Smith-3438Augusta County residents are fortunate to have four capable individuals seeking the office of sheriff.  I have had the privilege to be acquainted with each of these individuals.  I give my support and vote to Donald Smith

Having served 16 of the last 24 years on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors or the Augusta County School Board, I have a passion and concern for the citizens of Augusta County and their future.  I see that same passion and concern in Donald Smith.

Donald was born and raised in this county.  He graduated from Fort Defiance High School and Blue Ridge Community College.  He has worked on a farm near New Hope and possesses those values that many of us refer to as “Augusta County” values.  He is a solid, hardworking person with a sense of responsibility to others. He desires to serve and give back to his community.

Donald is an individual that commands, not demands, respect.  He does not expect you to respect him solely for the position that he holds.   He wants to earn your respect by the way he treats you and performs his job.

Donald is a compassionate individual.  He understands the needs and concerns of the victims of crime and will respond accordingly.  Having served as a road deputy, he understands the needs, the frustrations, and the responsibilities of the job that will bring his staff into the most contact with the general public.  This will enable him to direct, encourage, and assist those employees in their jobs to be efficient, engaging and effective.

Donald’s responsibilities as a deputy, as an explosives expert, and as second in command of SWAT  has given him experience from the most routine aspects of the job to those aspects of dealing with the most dangerous and life threatening individuals that a law enforcement officer can encounter.

Donald’s education provides an example of how he will go the extra mile to do the job right.  Having an aspiration to be sheriff of Augusta County Donald, like all of the candidates, took advantage of training offered at the Regional Law Enforcement Academy to become proficient at his job and to advance his career.  Donald, however, is the only candidate in the race to go even further with his education.  While serving as a deputy, he also completed his course work at Blue Ridge Community College and Liberty University and received his degree in criminal justice.  Today’s law enforcement is ever changing and like many other jobs requires a higher degree of education and experience than it did twenty years ago.  Donald recognized this and took that extra step to prepare himself for the job.

Donald Smith has the desire to be the sheriff of Augusta County.  He wants to be a servant of the people.  Please join me on Tuesday November 3rd to vote for and elect Donald Smith as the next sheriff of this great County of Augusta.
