June events at the Waynesboro Public Library

waynesboro libraryThe Waynesboro Public Library has a busy month of June planned.

June 1-July 31 – Read to the Rhythm Children’s Summer Reading Program. Use your summer reading wristband for free or discount admission at local businesses. Ages 12 & under: Every book checked out and read gets a library buck upon return. Use your bucks to purchase new books from our SRP store and collect a special prize each week. Ages 13 & up: For every 2 hours of reading, receive $5 in SRP bucks to spend on books and get a special prize each week. Submit completed punch cards for a grand prize drawing.

Wednesday, June 3, 7:00 pm – All About Pets. Local veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Radigan discusses pet topics.

Thursday, June 4, 5:00-8:00 pm – WPL Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A. Support the library with a purchase. Catering orders during the week also included when mentioning WPL.

June 8-July 27 – Escape the Ordinary Adult Summer Reading Program. Enter to win end of summer prize drawings, including a Kindle grand prize. Register at the circulation desk.

June 8-July 18 – Strong Men and Women in Virginia History Exhibit.  This is panel exhibit is designed to honor distinguished African-American leaders in Virginia.

Wednesday, June 10, 7:00 pm – Solar Energy. Sandy Green with Solarize Augusta talks about solar energy

Friday, June 12, 6:30 pm – Friday Night at the Movies. Enjoy new features on the big screen. Free popcorn and soda provided.

Monday, June 15 – Friday, June 19, 10:00 am-7:00 pm – Scholastic Book Fair. Support youth services by making a purchase.

Wednesday, June 17, 7:00 pm – Wednesday Night Book Club. Fascinating and far ranging discussion with other book lovers. The book is provided, participants vote on selections, and a staff member leads the discussion. This month’s selection is Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter.

Friday, June 19 – Fun Friday at Waynesboro Golf and Games. Use your SRP wristband to get $1 off child’s admission with a paying adult.

Saturday, June 20, 1:00 pm – Magic & Illusion by Wes Iseli. Start the summer reading program off right with tricks that will amaze & entertain.

Tuesday, June 23, 9:30 amMorning Matinee. Start your day off with a classic movie. Contact the library for the featured film. Light refreshments provided.

Friday, June 26 – Fun Friday at Shenandoah River Outfitters. Use your SRP wristband for 1 free tube trip with paying adult. Restrictions apply. Registrations suggested.

Friday, June 26, 4:00-8:00 pm – Comic Con. This library-wide Young Adult event includes tabletop and console gaming, special guest speakers, anime showing, costume contest, photo booth and so much more! Wear your SRP wristband and take home a free comic book.

 

Weekly

Monday

10:30 am – Swing and Sway. This music and movement class is just the thing you need to get started in the morning. No stories, just song and dance. Ages 0-6.

11:00 am-1:00 pm – Chat-N-Play provides interactive play for your little one and conversation for you. Open to children ages 0-3 and their caregivers.

(Starting June 15) 11:30 am – Kids Café. The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and WPL want to keep kids health this summer by providing nutritious snacks.

(Starting June 22) 1:00 pm – Blanket Blockbuster. Bring your blanket and sit picnic style. Enjoy a family friendly movie with free popcorn and a drink.

(Starting June 15) 2:00 pm – Kids Café. The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and WPL want to keep kids health this summer by providing nutritious snacks.

4:00 pm – WPL Knitters. Bring your materials and socialize with other knitters.

10:30 am – Story Time features books, stories, songs, puppets, flannel board activities, and crafts for children ages two through five accompanied by an adult.
