Johnson mocks Deeds’ speech issues at McDonnell rally

“We need someone who can really communicate. And Bob McDonnell can communicate,” said Johnson, a prominent former Democrat who jumped ship earlier this year to endorse Bob McDonnell for governor over Democrat Creigh Deeds, a Bath County state senator who is known for occasionally tripping over his words in speeches and private conversations.

That’s important to remember considering what Johnson had to say next at the McDonnell campaign rally at which she spoke on behalf of the Republican nominee.

“The other people that I talked to, and especially his op-op-op-op-op-opponent – he did this all through my interview with him, he could not articulate what needed to be done,” Johnson said.

The comments were first reported on the Not Larry Sabato blog. The blog also reported that Deeds has apparently had a stuttering problem dating back to a childhood accident, though the Deeds campaign did not directly answer questions from reporters on that issue in a conference call this afternoon.
