Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw is among a slate of Virginia Democrats endorsing former vice president Joe Biden today.
Joining Saslaw in backing Biden today were State Sen. Lynwood Lewis and State Dels. Mark Sickles and Joseph Lindsey.
Earlier in the cycle, a pair of members of Virginia’s congressional delegation, Elaine Luria and Donald McEachin, endorsed Biden, who served as vice president from 2009-2017.
Luria, McEachin and Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney are serving as Virginia for Biden co-chairs.
A Monmouth University poll released on Monday has Biden running third in Virginia as the Commonwealth prepares to go to the polls in the March 3 Democratic presidential primary.
Biden was at 18 percent in the poll, trailing former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who were tied for the lead in the poll at 22 percent each.
