The Wildcats (5-4, 4-2 CAA) got two touchdown passes from quarterback R.J. Harris to go up 14-0 after one. James Madison (6-4, 3-3 CAA) got on the board early in the second on a 69-yard halfback option pass from former R.E. Lee standout Dae’Quann Scott to UVa. transfer Quintin Hunter, and the teams traded short field goals to make it 17-10 new hampshire at the half.
Michael Birdsong connected with Hunter on a 3-yard TD pass at the 12:22 mark of the fourth quarter to pull JMU to within 20-17, but a Harris touchdown pass to Andy Vailes and a late 3-yard TD run by Chris Setian closed out the scoring.
Birdsong was 24-for-43 for 214 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Scott ran for 63 yards on 15 carries, but the bulk of his production came on a 50-yard run and the 69-yard pass on the trick play to Hunter.
