JMU seeded 11th in Lincoln Regional

jmu logoAfter winning its third Colonial Athletic Association Championship in the last five seasons, 11th-seeded James Madison women’s basketball travels to College Station, Texas to face sixth-seeded Gonzaga in the First Round of the NCAA Division I Championship as a part of the Lincoln Regional, the NCAA announced today. The game will be played on Sunday, March 23 with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Eastern time.

The Dukes received an 11 seed in the tournament and the winner of their meeting with sixth-seeded Gonzaga faces the winner of the matchup between third-seeded Texas A&M and 14th-seeded North Dakota on Tuesday, March 25 in the Round of 32.

This is the second meeting between JMU and Gonzaga.

Madison is playing in its fourth NCAA tournament under Head Coach Kenny Brooks. They head into the tournament with a 28-5 overall record and went 15-1 in the CAA regular season to win both the regular season and tournament championships.

Gonzaga won the West Coast Conference championship this year for the sixth time in seven seasons, defeating BYU in the finals. The Zags went 29-4 this season, including a 16-2 record in conference play.
