JMU nTelos Wireless Broadcast Network kicks off coverage with Saturday’s football game at Maryland

jmu logoJMU fans will have ways, both locally and worldwide, to follow the JMU football and men’s and women’s basketball teams this season on the JMU/nTelos Wireless Broadcast Network. It all kicks off with this Saturday’s football game at Maryland, starting with the pre-game show at 3 p.m., followed by the game at 3:30 p.m.

Back for the 39th year, VerStandig Broadcasting is the radio home of the JMU/nTelos Wireless Broadcast Network, with WSVA-AM 550 and WHBG-AM1360 the flagship stations for all the broadcasts. Mike Schikman will again be the “Voice of the Dukes” for the 2014 football and 2014-15 men’s basketball seasons. Likewise, David Taylor will lead this year’s women’s basketball broadcasts on WHBG.

The newest innovation in the JMU/nTelos Wireless Broadcast Network for Madison fans is the ability to follow the broadcasts not only on their computers but also wirelessly on tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices. Partnering with Stretch Internet allows JMU to stream all live broadcasts, both audio and video as part of MadiZONE HD Sportsnet Presented by JMU Alumni, and to reach fans all across the state, region, nation and world. The free streaming service is now a responsive design, allowing fans to access streams, stats and more on any device – computer, tablet and smartphones – with a customized format for their specific device and without having to download or pay for an app.

To access the wireless broadcasts, fans can go to JMUSports.com and click on the schedule of their choice to access the links. They can also head directly to http:/portal.stretchinternet.com/jmu to check out the selection of live and on-demand broadcasts, including football and men’s and women’s basketball on the JMU/nTelos Wireless Broadcast Network.

The link to the streaming, along links for the main web site at JMUSports.com and live stats at JMUStats.com, can be added to the homepage of any internet-connected mobile device. This is done by going to the page in the browser, clicking on the “Add to Homepage” icon (which on Apple devices looks like a page with an arrow going up out of it.) and finalizing the addition. The device will add an icon that looks like an app, but takes the fan directly to that same page every time.
