jmu logoAfter losing multiple contests to winter weather early in the season, the James Madison baseball team has added a mid-week contest against UMBC, scheduled for Wednesday, March 4 at 4 p.m. at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Dukes are coming off of their first home weekend of the season, where they split a four-game series with visiting Quinnipiac. JMU won the opener 7-2 on Friday evening on the strength of an eight-inning, two-hit performance from left-hander Aaron Hoover, then won the series finale 9-6 on Sunday after sophomore Ky Parrott and freshman Kyle McPherson launched their first career home runs.

UMBC has faced weather difficulties as well, having lost six games to snow and ice so far. The Retrievers currently sit at 1-2, having lost to Richmond and split a pair of contests with Lafayette, all in Goose Creek, S.C. this past weekend.

The two teams have met nine times in their all-time series, but have not played in 15 years. JMU holds a 7-2 advantage over the Retrievers, but UMBC won the most recent contest, a 13-5 decision in Harrisonburg on April 7, 1999.
