Jake “The Snake” Roberts to begin farewell tour at Night of the Superstars

He was one of the top stars in pro wrestling in the 1980s and 1990s, feuding with the likes of Andre the Giant, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan. But then Jake “The Snake” Roberts fell on hard times, with years of substance abuse and depression pushing him to the brink of life and death.

Now Roberts is on the road to redemption – with the help of retired pro wrestler Diamond Dallas Page.

Roberts, with Page’s help, is getting himself back into wrestling shape for a farewell tour that will kick off on Saturday, April 13, at Waynesboro High School in Waynesboro, Va., at Night of the Superstars.

The innovator of pro wrestling’s most devastating finishing move, the DDT, will be at the Top Rope Pro Wrestling event to meet and greet fans and to once again step inside the squared circle.

“My history is not my destiny,” said Roberts, who has been clean and sober for going on three months, and has lost more than 60 pounds since teaming up with Page.

Roberts said his goal is to get healthy enough to make one last run as a wrestler and to leave the industry on his own terms.
