uva-basketball newBoring! Virginia is making a habit of hitting 80 on the scoreboard. The 80-54 win over Lehigh on Wednesday was the fifth time in six games that the Cavs scored 80 or more.

UVA wasn’t exactly hitting on all cylinders against the Mountain Hawks, either, missing 12 of 14 shots in one long first-half stretch.

The second half was more like what we’ve seen to date in the 2015-2016 season, with Virginia connecting on 59.4 percent of its shots from the floor (19-of-32).

For the game, UVA shot 52.3 percent (34-of-65) and scored 1.27 points per possession.

Solid, if unspectacular, defense Lehigh shot 40.0 percent from the floor (20-of-50) and scored 0.857 points per possession, a bit below Virginia’s season average coming in (.918, according to KenPom.com).

Another big night for Brogdon Malcolm Brogdon had his third 20+ point night of the season, going for 23 on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor in the win.

Brogdon is averaging a career-high 16.7 points per game on a career-best 47.5 percent shooting from the field in 2015-2016.

Minutes, rotation Freshman Jack Salt got his second straight start, but got just 11 minutes, didn’t score and had one rebound.

Mike Tobey came off the bench again, and had eight points on 4-of-8 shooting and five rebounds in 20 minutes.

Isaiah Wilkins had six points on 3-of-6 shooting and five rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.

What the heck is up with Evan Nolte? The senior started 11 games in place of the injured Justin Anderson last season, but he’s been relegated to garbage-time minutes the past two games, and has played just 39 minutes in six games total this season.
