House of Gridlock: New Degner web ad going viral

On Tuesday, Sixth District Democratic congressional nominee Kai Degner launched a web-only video campaign ad called House of Gridlock, which stars his opponent, Rep. Bob Goodlatte, as the main character.

Narrated by a voice sounding like Frank Underwood from Netflix’ House of Cards, the argument is made that the 24-year incumbent career politician is part of the entrenched establishment that keeps congress from functioning as intended.

The three-minute advertisement focuses on Goodlatte’s ability to pick and choose what legislation he wants to move forward, especially via his chairmanship of the House Judiciary Committee.  The ad also mentions his family’s investment in the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline.

Degner shared the video on his campaign’s Facebook page, and it has amassed close to 10,000 Facebook views in two days.

“It’s a fun advertisement for anyone who is a House of Cards fan, for sure,” said Degner. “But it also makes substantive points about why we feel Mr. Goodlatte is part of what makes us so frustrated with Congress.”
