lgo_mlb_baltimore_oriolesHisashi Iwakuma made his first career complete game mean something, no-hitting the Baltimore Orioles in a 3-0 Seattle win on Wednesday afternoon.

Iwakuma (4-2, 3.86 ERA) struck out seven and walked three, throwing 116 pitches, 77 for strikes.

Aside from the fourth, when he walked Manny Machado to lead off the inning, then walked Chris Davis with two outs to put runners on first and second, Iwakuma breezed through. He did walk Jonathan Schoop to lead off the eighth, but struck out Ryan Flaherty and then got Caleb Joseph to ground into an easy 6-4-3 double play.

The ninth was uneventful. Third baseman Kyle Seager made a nice play on a foul pop by David Lough for the first out, and then Machado grounded to third on an 0-2 pitch for out number two.

Gerardo Parra flew out to center on the first pitch of the final at bat to end it.

The Mariners got two runs in the third of Baltimore starter Kevin Gausman (2-4, 4.48 ERA) on an RBI double by Franklin Gutierrez and an RBI single by Robinson Cano. A Jesus Sucre run-scoring double in the fourth accounted for the other run.

Baltimore (57-56) concluded its nine-game road trip with a 4-5 record and is four and a half games back of the New York Yankees in the American League East.
